OSYSSEUM
Science Adventure Odysseum Cologne
Frank Oppenheimer began the science centre movement in 1969 with the opening of the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The aim was the clarification of modern science, technology and the encouragement of independent discussion of these subjects. 40 years after the invention of the Science Centre, the Science Adventure Odysseum Cologne opens, being the first representative of the third generation of interactive experience worlds.
The Odysseum Cologne is a modern mixture of a Science Centre, leisure park and research centre with scientific claim – a gigantic, interactive experience for the whole family. Over approximately 5,500 square metres of experimental surface, the visitors themselves become the adventurer and discoverer in seven elaborately designed subject worlds. 200 interactive experience stations, aimed at different age levels, send the visitor off to an exciting expedition from the beginnings of mankind up to the present, and out into the future. The Science Adventure takes the visitors through a winding jungle to drill down on the secret of life. Looking down from above, from deepest space, current questions of globalisation are answered. On a colossal computer circuit board, the visitors find out how Cyberspace functions, and, using a research vessel, he or she can enter the lake in order to take a look in the future of mankind. The interactive adventure stands at the core of the event: It's a hands-on experience, and creativity and participation are always welcome.
We've been responsible for the introduction of the Odysseum to the market, with conception and realisation of all PR measures as well as consultation about brand development since April 2008. Following the opening in April 2009 we’ve been doing the subsequent PR work.
