Universal Pictures Germany is a subsidiary of Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE). Since 1989, the Hamburg-based company has been active in the German video market. The marketing and distribution of cinema and non-cinema films of all genres, as well as direct to video, special-interest and TV productions on DVD and Blu-ray are all part of the core business of the enterprise.

Their portfolio includes huge Hollywood productions of Universal Studios, for example „The Bourne Ultimatum“, „The Mummy – the Tomb of the Dragon Emperor“, "Wanted" or „Hellboy – the Golden Army“. The TV productions of NBC Universal also belong to this portfolio, amongst others, for example „Dr. House", "Monk" or "Heroes", as well as locally acquired and produced entertainment like the Universal Comedy DVDs or the documentaries „The Earth from Above“ from the „Green is Universal“ DVD series.
